The Palestinian terror factory

How education for war is part of the new Arab-Palestinian terror planning in the West Bank and in the shadow of the refugees.

It is rarely noted that Palestinian activism has historically relied on camouflaging planned violence as resistance to avoid being assumed to be terrorism that seeks to attack, harm, or kill civilians in Israel and that, as collateral damage, also kills Arab civilians. Not only because more than 20% of Israel’s population is Arab, but because in Gaza it is Hamas that uses mosques, schools and hospitals as weapons stores and missile bases, as well as human shields in children and women.

Explaining the division and disputed territories within the West Bank would take a whole column, but the important point is that the Oslo Accords divided the area into A and B for the Palestinians and Area C for Israel. Jenin is today under Palestinian control.

We also must know that the Palestinians do not have a single mandate but have different leaders who cannot sit at the same table because they eat each other’s eyes out. In the case of territories, A and B, they are under the control of the Palestinian National Authority which, like Hamas, has devolved into a kleptocracy: lifetime positions and lifetime theft. Interspersed between them is the unwillingness to control and encourage the violent germ in the Palestinian cause that has long resulted in the use of terrorism against Israel.

Like good kleptocrats, there will be no alternation in the Palestinian-controlled territories until Mahmoud Abbas dies and the Palestinians engage in a heavy internal revolt to define his succession if other groups fail to contain the implosion.

Why is this important to know? Because in Jenin, which as I said is under Palestinian mandate, there is a refugee camp that has become a hotbed of Palestinian terrorism that stalks the Israel Defense Forces and civilians as well.

The seed of violence and terrorism

One should not be able to talk about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without mentioning the seed that defines the character of the Palestinian authorities and which is based on resentment of Jews in the first place, as well as of anything that, under their interpretations, is contrary to Islam.

As in Nablus, a hotbed of terrorism is emerging in the northern West Bank thanks to the entrenchment of new militias with a particularity: they threaten Israel and are beyond the control of the Palestinian authorities themselves. In addition to adhering to the Islamic State, they are the young cells that have been involved in the attacks in Israel between April and May 2022.

Hamas, which is involved in Gaza, has no direct control in Jenin. Here the weight is between Fatah and the Palestinian Islamic Jihad, which will be the tip of the ball of these new skeins: the Jenin Battalion, which is formed inside the refugee camp, is affiliated with Jihad.

In May 2021, an Israeli defensive operation took place and a few months later, in September, six prisoners escaped from Gilboa prison. This was the framework in which the group became publicly known and appreciated by figures in the Palestinian Islamic Jihad itself. It is very common to hear and read that Israel attacked the territories under Palestinian control when in truth we are talking about operations that were and will always be defensive: by May 2021, Hamas had launched more than 4,000 rockets on the Israeli population.

It is in rockets and terrorism that the threat that many countries and organisations swore years ago – to destroy Israel and destroy the Jewish people – is most realised. Given this, who thinks that the country will not defend itself with a large army?

Planned violence

The organization of the Battalion is attributed to Jamil Al-Muri, who began recruiting militias inside the Jenin refugee camp in May 2021 during Operation Wall Guardian. Al-Muri was born in the camp in 1996, quickly joined the jihad and was killed in June 2021. Another example of how successful the Palestinian authorities have been in handing out anti-Semitic material in schools and working, day and night, for war rather than peace.

Who would have expected a different outcome if for more than seven decades the message has been the destruction of Israel and the subsequent destruction of the Jewish people?

During the September public announcement, the new battalion spoke out against Israeli operations and against the permissiveness of the Palestinian National Authority, which by that time had begun to pursue some of the terrorists. The latter is most worrying because it means that the invention may eat its inventor: the young Palestinians who educated for war against Israel are the same young people who today threaten not to obey Palestinian leaders and create a different monster than Palestinian Arab terrorism.

The Jenin Brigades include the Jerusalem Brigades (the armed wing of Palestinian Jihad), the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade (of Fatah), and Hamas’ Al-Qassam Brigades. They all share a common trait: a strong resentment of Israel and disobedience to their own. We are talking about terrorist cells that are between 20 and 30 years old and operate with another very dangerous logic: there is no hierarchy. Each one can operate independently and without the approval of any superior structure like any other global terrorist organization.

Another incredible aspect is that international media have interviewed these militias inside the refugee camp. According to public statements, there are weapons that were privately purchased by each terrorist, as well as stolen and home-made weapons, as reported by Al Jazeera, a media that in no way could be classified as Zionist.

This battalion also operates with a very strong media leg, and they achieve this through Telegram. Their spokesman was Abu Ma’ad and the aim of these channels was not only internal but also external communication with the public outside the West Bank.

Just a few days ago, on Hamas’ television channel, Gaza Al-Aqsa, a member of the terrorist organisation called on Palestinians in the West Bank to use social media to learn how to manipulate weapons and plan attacks against Israeli civilians.

We now understand the gravity of this when we consider that there are thousands of Palestinians working in Israel with legal work permits and access. Almost most of the Palestinian people are also hostages of their authorities, but all that glitters is not gold. The UN and many governments of the world irresponsibly demand from Israel, on the back of Palestinian propaganda, the issue of allowing the entry of the famous Palestinian refugees who are not as refugees as they claim to be, but that is another issue and a very long one.

The use of public media in the Palestinian-controlled territories to manipulate and teach how to attack and kill Israelis is a very heavy network. There is a presenter in Gaza called Musab Al-Hashlamoun who in November called for the murder of Israelis. Musab was born in Hebron and after being released from prison (which he entered for terrorist attacks), he went back to commit an attack in Beer Sheva that left 16 civilians dead. After returning to prison, he was released and deported to Gaza in 2011.

Jenin: the assisted hotbed

Coming back to Jenin and the refugee camp, this is what the IDF faces every time it must go in. We are talking about a new logic of Palestinian Arab terrorism that seems to be more inorganic and dangerous because it is beyond their control.

There are photos showing members of the battalion patrolling the camp at night wearing masks and carrying weapons in a position of alertness to what they see as IDF encroachments. They find, as always, external support inside the camp. When operations are launched, mosque sirens and loudspeakers also sound in defense of the battalion and call on civilians to confront the IDF. As with Hamas, women and children are also used in the camp to hide terrorists.

In closing, let’s look at some of the Palestinian National Authority’s response, which is also fair to say: in November 2021 its security forces launched an operation inside the camp to try to hit the organization, but received strong criticism of their own.

There are many within the Palestinian world who point to the Palestinian Authority as a collaborator of Israeli operations, and this is because Palestinians continue to speak of terrorism as resistance. For them the use of violence, wounding and killing is valid.  To say that Jenin is the hotbed of terrorism inside the West Bank is accurate. It is estimated that the organizational activity of Palestinian terrorism has already spread to Nablus and Bethlehem, where Christians at this time are taking refuge from persecution and attack.

The violent matrix in Palestine has remained unchanged for 20 years, which shows that there is no complete willingness on the part of the Palestinian authorities to educate for peace and not for war. This explains why there are terrorists under the age of 20. Moreover, those living in the camp accuse Mahmoud Abbas of marginalizing them from the Palestinian economic program. Their ungovernability is the missing pinch in a huge breeding ground in which young Palestinians see terrorism as more profitable than work.

In the Palestinian-controlled territories we are talking about decades of fostering an anti-Israeli idea, which is in fact anti-Semitic, that has already gotten out of control even for the Palestinian National Authority itself. Added to this is Hamas, which is sharpening its teeth to gain power.

What they may not tell you either, is that Israel is the one who guarantees them more and more quotas and jobs, even at risk. In other words, the Israeli government is also doing the work that the Palestinians should be doing, but by action or omission they are failing to do.

If you follow the Palestinian refrain, you will see that the refugee issue is the favourite crutch of the Palestinian narrative as they demand that Israel admit millions of people who never could and never will be able to prove their refugee status because they simply are not refugees.

Wouldn’t the UN and UNRWA know that this is happening in the refugee camp that is their emblem in the Palestinian cause? As if it were not enough to be the only country to claim its existence, Israel also faces a complicit silence from the entire world.

When Israeli forces fight back, you will have to know that in the Palestinian-controlled territories in the West Bank (those that many call the moderate leg of the Palestinians) there is a hotbed of terrorism that is ready every day to strike and move its chips.
