Aviones De Cemento, Funcionarios Frustrados Y Goles Del Sistema

En español y en ingles

Aviones De Cemento, Funcionarios Frustrados Y Goles Del Sistema

Alberto Jabiles Schwartz

– “Aviones de combate y de cemento cargados con un plan de ataque de decenas de objetivos como opción”;

Cement Planes, Frustrated Officials And Goals From The System

Alberto Jabiles Schwartz

Lic in Education and History from Hebrew University of Jerusalem

Activist in Hasbara since 1991

– “Combat and cement planes loaded with an attack plan of dozens of targets as an option”;

– «25 senior officials were frustrated»

– «Dozens of goals from the anti-tank system»

These are verbatim quotes that come to us from a dispatch in Spanish from the Israel Defense Forces on the day of the ceasefire after eleven days of the operation «Defenders of the Walls», phrases clearly translated by a computer that demonstrate negligence (mejdal ) and the carelessness (zilzul) with which the Hasbara in Spanish is approached by the State of Israel, a battlefield in which opinion formers and influencers, guided by that enormous love we feel towards Israel, must face with our own  artisanal and self-taught tools, the arduous work of explaining the conflict to which we are all faced, while our opponents, consisting on armies of professionals provided with funds, technical equipment and state resources for their mission of translating their distorted version of the facts, leave the image of Israel literally on the ground.

The latest confrontation provoked by Hamas against Israel once again exposed Israel’s shortcomings in the field of public relations in Spanish, the third most spoken language on the planet and a communication tool used by more than 20 countries and foreign ministries; to whom time after time we rush out to ask for their votes in the different scenarios where every day the legitimacy and with it, the existence of Israel is put into question by its enemies.

After 30 years of activism in Hasbara, it hurts to be forced to write down these remarks, however it is never too late to help change this situation in terms of giving a break to bureaucrats that should leave their positions for qualified people, professionals with experience and skills in the digital world and with the ability to work as a team designing global clarification strategies that go beyond facing and trying to succeed in a specific argumentative debate in front of a television camera. An executive structure must be established that will constantly feed information to accredited foreign embassies in Israel and its own in other latitudes, to Hasbara activists, providing images of the damage caused to us, preventing the drama from continuing to be an exclusive ground for only one side. A picture convinces more than a thousand words and Israel is not doing it.

Israel’s system of democratic freedom allows correspondents from main news agencies to live in the country, enjoying the benefits of the pluralistic Israeli society. However, this presence is exploited by the enemy, not by us. The manipulations of Hamas and other Islamic groups are in evidence when they fire missiles against Israeli civilians and then hide their terrorists, leaders and arsenals among the civil population using them as human shields, while they publish photos and videos, forged with children and women deaths and injuries, even, related to conflicts in different latitudes of the planet. The world gets carried away and fooled by all these and condemns Israel, that tries, by all means, to avoid civilian casualties among those human shields.

And finally, let us bear in mind that the news agencies that dispatch from Gaza have the order to transcribe the news dictated by the Islamic radicals, otherwise, they may be expelled from Gaza or simply see their correspondents murdered. Well, something as simple as is mass published and we see the dispatches of newspapers in this part of the world flooded with images from correspondents in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and the Arab world, who sell very easily a distorted version of the conflict that allows us to see the terrorist perpetrators assume the role of victims. No one saw the bombings in Israeli cities, nor the trauma caused to our children after 20 years of incessant attacks against them.

We confront professionals in lies and manipulation, vilely trained to transmit a twisted and deceitful image who work within agencies with anti-Israel bias, state funded such as HispanTv (Iran), Telesur (Venezuela), Prensa Latina (Cuba) and Al Jazeera (Qatar) with correspondents skillfully distributed in the region that cause enormous damage. They are the ones that finally impose the message of the perverse, murderous, genocidal Israel who enjoys the death of the Palestinian civilian population and doing nothing to prevent the deaths of innocents, taken hostage by Islamic fundamentalist terrorists.

It is said that in Israel there is a Hasbara office, even with ministerial rank in charge of these issues. In this last round of confrontation, it was conspicuous by its absence and the public spokesperson in Spanish was assumed mainly by local embassy personnel, journalists and activists in Hasbara who work privately on the issue. The Hasbara, production and delivery of material is a job that must come from dedicated agencies in Israel and must be imposed upon themselves once and for all. This is a daily task and not only at the time of a crisis or a military escalation.

Year after year this subject is discussed and there is no solution in sight, entangled by bureaucratic, partisan and budgetary limitations. There are times voices come out of Israel saying that “this should not be explained”, a position that is erroneous and even conceited, that causes infinite damage in the relationship with a region that, like Latin America, was vital in the approval of resolution 181 from 29 November 1947, a region where we hold good friends and to whom we face every time there is voting session to ask for their favorable votes.

Obviously, we cannot move forward with these issues receiving computer translations, disparagements, glances over our shoulders and / or endless drafting’s with official letterhead. “Cement planes, frustrated officials and goals from the system”, phrases that I still do not understand, are the symptom of the disease and it is shameful to spread such material in the name of Israel. It is an advantage we give to our enemies. It is time for a real change.
